Star soprano to bring her elegant style to the iconic event next year
Thursday 29th September 2016 – Aintree Racecourse today announces ‘sporting soprano’ Laura Wright as an official Ladies Day Ambassador for the 2017 Randox Health Grand National.
The classical singer, renowned for performing at some of the world’s biggest sporting events including the Rugby World Cup, The British Grand Prix and the Ashes, will be bringing her renowned voice and elegant style to one of the most anticipated days on the horse racing calendar for a second year.
Laura will again introduce the world’s most iconic horse race, by singing the National Anthem on before the Randox Health Grand National race, alongside local school children from around Aintree Racecourse.
As Ladies Day ambassador, the avid sports fan and fashionista will be discussing her style secrets and how to best achieve elegant ensembles at the star-studded event on Friday 7th April. On the day itself, Laura will participate in the judging panel that will search for stand-out competitors in the style stakes and crown the elegant event’s ‘Best Dressed’ style award, which last year was won by Anna Gilderoy who took away the biggest Style Award prize ever, a Range Rover Evoque.
Laura will also perform at the new Alder Hey Hospital during Aintree’s annual jockey visit to the world renowned children’s hospital on the morning of Ladies Day. Laura will perform three songs from her impressive repertoire to children and parents before joining the jockeys and trainers visiting kids of the wards.
Laura Wright comments: “I am delighted to be part of Randox Health Grand National 2017 as the event brings together both my love of sport and my love of fashion. Ladies Day is such a colourful day and it is wonderful seeing so many women really make the effort to look stylish and glamourous. Combined with the excitement around the racing itself, a fabulous and unique event that Liverpool should be very proud of. I am also honoured to be asked to sing the National Anthem before the world’s most famous horse race, The Randox Health Grand National and so excited to sing and be part of the annual visit to Alder Hey and perform at the much loved hospital.”
